Shoulder Basket - A beautiful day to day basket

This isn't just a basket; it’s a piece of the West Country. Hand-woven in my Devon studio using the finest willow from the historic Somerset Levels, this shoulder basket represents a commitment to traditional English basketry and sustainable, local slow-fashion.

W31cm x D21cm x H25cm. 71cm long including the leather handle

The Artistry of the Willow

I have carefully selected two distinct varieties of willow to create a natural, sophisticated palette:

  • Flanders Red: Provides a deep, autumnal warmth and a resilient structure.

  • Dicky Meadows: A weaver’s favourite, offering a delicate, pale green hue and a refined finish.

The marriage of these two varieties creates a timeless aesthetic that shifts beautifully in the light, moving from earthy copper to soft sage.

Product Features

  • Hand-Woven in Devon: Every rod is graded, soaked, and woven by hand in my Devon workshop.

  • Premium Green Leather: Featuring a supple forest-green leather handle designed to mirror the natural tones of the Dicky Meadows weave.

  • Built for Life: My weaving technique focuses on tension and durability, ensuring a basket that is as sturdy as it is elegant.

  • Sustainable & Local: 100% biodegradable and sourced within the West Country, minimising carbon footprint and supporting local growers.

Why "Made in Devon" Matters

By purchasing this basket, you are supporting a Devon-based maker dedicated to keeping heritage skills alive. Each piece takes time of focused handwork, resulting in a unique item that carries the character of the weaver and the spirit of the South West.

"From the Somerset Levels to my Devon workshop, my process is a journey of patience. I work with the seasons, using traditional varieties like Harrison Brown and Flanders Red to create functional art that honors the landscape it came from."
